These past 5 months sure have gone fast! Our little Eliza turned 5 months on Wednesday. She sure takes after her dad in the height area. Here are some things that happened this past month:
1. Was able to start solids. So far she has had cereal, bananas, carrots, and sweet potatoes
2. Is starting to walk in her walker
3. Experienced heat rash. Poor baby :-( It's just too hot here in Texas!!
4. Had pink eye once again.... This time in both eyes. :-(
5. Likes to hear herself talk especially when her voice echos at home because of the tile.
6. Likes to read books
7. Likes to watch cartoons
8. Laughing and giggling more and more each day
9. Likes to hold mom and dad's face while she eats or just to look at their face
10. While doing tummy time she can get her knees underneath her but then she puts her face down and scoots across the blanket that way.
11. Kicks the crib in the morning when she wakes up.
This little one sure is the apple of our eye! Sometimes I miss having her being little like when she was first born, but I have really loved every stage she has been in so far. She has been fun to have in our family and we look forward to seeing her grow and develop even more.

We can't believe this little one is already 4 months old! Time sure is flying by quickly. We sure have enjoyed having Eliza in our family and are excited to continue to see her personality develop. We went to her 4 month appointment yesterday afternoon and here are her new stats:
Weight- 15 lbs 9 oz ~ 82%
Height- 25 3/4 in ~ 91%
She definitely is growing quickly!
Here are things she has been doing or has experienced the last month:
1. At the end of June she blew her first raspberry and starting grabbing her toes
2. Loves to talk to her stuffed animals especially her pink elephant and her rabbit
3. Had her first trip to Amarillo, TX and Canyon, TX
4. First time seeing the play Texas. Fell asleep during intermission and didn't even wake up when they had fireworks.
5. Loves to walk. She will take steps if you hold her hands.
6. Loves playing in her exersaucer.
7. Has definitely developed attitude. If you do something she doesn't like she definitely tells you all about it.
8. Has started using her legs to scoot her body back when on the changing table. Definitely having to watch her at all times.
9. First time swimming.

We can't wait to see what this next month brings. We get to try baby food this next month with her so we are excited to see how she does.

So far this little one has been doing good. She is sleeping anywhere from 9-11 hours at night. She still does pretty good with tummy time though at some times during the day she is fussy during it. She drinks anywhere from 6-8 ounces of milk at a feeding. She is also starting to giggle which is definitely cute to hear. We definitely love having her around and can't wait to see what else she does this next month.

I can't believe my baby is 2 months old already! Time has sure gone by quickly. Our little Eliza is growing more and more everyday. She is now consistently sleeping 7-8 hours at night which is absolutely wonderful.
We were able to have her blessed on May 5th and were very lucky to have many of our family members come into town for it. We were grateful for those that were able to come, but definitely missed those who weren't able to. I will post pictures of her big day once I get them (Hint, Hint Dad ;)...)
The following Tuesday after the blessing was Eliza's 2 month appointment which of course included shots. Definitely not fun. It was nice to hear from the doctor that she was doing well and was a fast developer. She has really strong back and neck muscles so he made sure to tell us to keep an eye on her moving about since she probably wouldn't hold still for much longer. Here were her stats this time:
Weight- 11 lbs 7 oz (66%)
Height- 23 in (77%)
The dr was estimating that with her height at this moment she will probably be about 5 ft 9 in when she grows up. It was kind of fun being able to hear that.
Some of the fun things that have happened the past month:
1. Still does really well with tummy time
2. Got to go to dad's graduation in Alpine, TX
3. Had her first road trip which included Alpine, Ft. Davis, and Big Bend National Park
4. Giggled for the first time in her sleep
We definitely enjoy having this little one around and can't wait for what is to come in the future.

I can't believe my baby is 6 weeks old already! She has already grown and developed so much over the past few weeks. She is doing really well with tummy time and holding her head up. It's fun to hold her now and see lots of smiles. She is starting to recognize her mom and dad more and more everyday so we are able to get more smiles out of her. In the morning when we get her dressed we will tell her she is a pretty girl and she gets a huge smile on her face like she is telling us, "Yep I know I am pretty!" Those smiles throughout the day make it all worth it.
So over the past six weeks we have had some enjoyable times, but we have also had our struggles. It has been a hard roller coaster ride with Eliza when it comes to eating. When she was born I nursed her for three weeks and we noticed she was acting uncomfortable and was screaming out in pain. We weren't quite sure what was going on so we called the nurse to see if maybe she had Colic. The nurse thought that she was too young to be showing signs and thought it was probably gas and gave us suggestions. Well as we continued to nurse her she seemed to be getting worse. Then one day after we fed her, she spit up big time. She had never done that before so we were quite surprised. Then on the very next feeding after I fed her again, I had her in her bouncy chair and out came her food again. Since she didn't hold down two feedings I called the on call doctor. He told us to give her some pedialyte for the next hour to see if she would hold it down and if she did to feed her again. We had some success so we thought all was well. The very next night she became very fussy to the point that it was very hard to console her. She also had a dirty diaper that was filled with mucous. And it was more mucous then anything so that worried us as well. We called the on call doctor again and he said that it wasn't normal to have that. He told us to get either prune juice or grape juice to give to her to help clear her out. During the whole weekend we had also been talking with Scott's sister Laura since her baby had some challenges with eating when she was born as well. They had to put her on a special formula called Similac Alimentum because she had a milk protein allergy. Since Eliza was showing the same signs, we decided to try it out. After 48 hours of using this formula, it was like night and day with her. She was happy again and she wasn't uncomfortable. On Scott's line there are a lot of lactose problems so we thought we would try the Sensitive kind of formula after going through the first can of the Alimentum. She seemed to handle it quite well and then we noticed her diapers got seedy again and then about 5-7 days into the mucous came back into the stool. I called the nurse this time and asked her about it. She proceeded to tell me it was normal. I didn't think it was normal and was finally able to get an appointment with the doctor that afternoon. We went in and explained to him everything that was going on. He took a sample of her stool to test to make sure she didn't have a problem with pollups which she didn't and another sample to test for an infection. By the time we were done visiting with him, he was pretty sure she had the milk protein allergy as well. So we now have our little one on the Similac Alimentum formula as well and we have our happy baby back thank goodness. We are grateful that Scott's sister had gone through this before so we could get this figured out sooner than later because it definitely was hard seeing her in pain.
Eliza got a brand new cousin 5 weeks after she was born. Krista and Brian welcomed their little one on April 12, 2013 at 8:50am. Madelyn Grace was born weighing 7lbs 4 oz and measuring 21.25 inches long.
